About
I’m MyungJae Lee (most people call me Matt), a software engineer based in Nashville, TN.
Currently, I work at AllianceBernstein on the Fixed Income Quant IT platform team, where I focus on internal AI developer tooling, release automation, and migrating mission-critical legacy architectures to modern cloud platforms (AKS, Snowflake, and Python).
Background & Approach
I studied Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and I’m currently pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. Before transitioning into software, I worked at Cleveland-Cliffs—authoring technical specifications for a $55M blast furnace modernization and diagnosing mechanical failures on the plant floor.
That physical engineering foundation directly informs how I approach software systems. I prioritize clear system boundaries, failure tolerances, throughput constraints, and eliminating operational friction through automation. Moving from industrial mechanical assemblies to distributed data pipelines and cloud infrastructure felt like a natural continuation of that same discipline.
Beyond the Screen
Outside of software, I’m drawn to novelty and continuous learning—whether exploring unfamiliar places, picking up new skills, or simply broadening perspective. Immersing myself in new challenges is how I keep time from blurring together. Recently, that has meant distance running and target shooting, alongside a longstanding fascination with financial markets and macroeconomic dynamics.
